I got a 90% on the grammar quiz!

Well, not the one with 70 questions I give my students. My friend, former colleague and Jeopardy! contestant Pam Nelson blogs on "the use and misuse of language" for my journalistic alma mater The News & Observer in Raleigh N.C.
Today she has a quiz on commonly confused words and I am happy to report that I finally know the difference between affect (usually a verb) and effect (usually a noun) without looking it up.

I got nailed on discrete (separate or distinct ) v. discreet (unobtrusive or modest), and I have to admit that I guessed at it. Check out that quiz and the rest of this fine blog.  Pam, your prize for stumping Professor Ready -- a link on Tink Inc.!
