One-person newspaper

Even before everything fell apart, lots of reporters fantasized about retreating to a scenic spot to run a small paper. I still do. Maybe it’s a new survival strategy. But, that picture looks totally different than it did just a few years ago. Here’s one new take – Ed Shamy’s one-man Vermont newspaper.

As publisher, editor and lone full-time employee of the County Courier, he does it all. And he believes there's a future in papers like his, even as the Internet continues to siphon readers and advertisers away from big-city dailies.
