Never underestimate a poet

While reporting for a radio story, I interviewed parents at a soccer game, including Elizabeth Alexander. She described herself as a poet and a professor. I have to admit -- I took the Yale prof part more seriously than the poet part.

I asked her and the others to comment on Sarah Palin’s debate comment about the financial angst of parents at soccer games. Dr. Alexander was a good quote.

Then I heard on the news that she’s a friend of Obama’s and is writing a poem for the inauguration. Makes those comment a bit more interesting.

In case you missed my report on Oct. 28 at 12:30 on WTBU, you can hear it here.
